Big Bazaar in Coimbatore

Big Bazaar is a chain of shopping malls in India currently with 29 outlets, owned by the Pantaloon Group. It works on same the economy model as Wal-Mart and has had considerable success in many Indian cities and small towns. The idea was pioneered by entrepreneur Kishore Biyani, the head of Pantaloon Retail India Ltd. Its latest stop is Coimbatore.

I personally visited this shopping mall which is located in Oppanakara Street. One the first day there was a huge rush of people such that the organizers had to close the door for new customers and requested all to visit the next day, the organizers simply could not control the flow of people. This simply one again shows the capacity of the Coimbatore people to welcome any enterprise and their interest in shopping.
